CORBY KINGSWOOD BY-ELECTION RESULT
Labour - 722, UKIP - 246, Conservative (Phil Ewers) - 154, Lib Dems - 18. Ballot papers 1,148 - turnout 21.5% - Electorate: 5,340.
This compares with the 2011 Kingswood result for the Corby Borough Council Elections:Labour—Paul Beattie -1,027, Maureen Forshaw - 1,015, John McGhee - 1,052.
Conservative—David McInnes - 413 and Yvonne von Bujtar - 332.
Ballot papers 1,839 - turnout 34.81% - Electorate 4,725.
The figures can be analysed in many ways but, worryingly, the results show our support has fallen from 22% of the turnout to 13%. The UKIP vote probably didn’t take many of our votes as their candidate was a former Labour mayor who is likely to have gained most of his support from former Labour voters. We may not be able to rely on this factor in a general election. The good news is that the nasty Lib/Dems were once again wiped out. Clearly though, we have a lot of work to do.

We had a lot of volunteers working for us in Kingswood and all are gratefully thanked. Our Parliamentary candidate, Tom Pursglove, will be writing to all to thank them. Our local candidate, Phil Ewers, is also extremely grateful to everyone and says that he sees this as just a beginning of the fightback of Corby.
